Thirty-eight letters and postcards from Nölken to G. and Otto Pauly,1914-1918, discussing personal matters, art, art purchases and Nölkens life as a soldier, with one letter, 1915 Oct. 30 from Pauly to Nölken offering to buy the artist's entire graphic work. Nine letters and postcards, 1919, from Pauly to Friedrich Ahlers-Hestermann and Walter Dammann in which Pauly in reference to a speech given by F. Ahlers-Herstermann's disputes the lattes's view that Nölken's behaviour could at times be called "pathological". With a signed engraving by Nölken (1915), newspaper clippings on his life and work, and a printed pamphlet entitled "Franz Nölken" by Ahlers-Hestermann.
